There are two types of bulletin boards in use at City facilities. Official boards are required by federal and state law and are to be used for posting of official materials only. All other boards may be used to display materials according to departmental and City guidelines.
ALL MATERIALS MUST BE DELIVERED TO THE INFORMATION DESK FOR APPROVAL.
Flyers will be displayed only in designated areas of the lobby on a first come, first served basis when space becomes available, and at first opportunity for posting. Every attempt will be made to provide space on an equitable basis, regardless of the beliefs or affiliations of individuals or groups requesting their use. However, if flyers have a very limited audience and would be more appropriately placed elsewhere, library staff reserves the right to deny posting.
Materials must advertise services, public meetings or events that are open to the public. They should be educational, cultural, charitable, or recreational in nature. Announcements for political or religious related meetings or events may also be posted. An event may charge admission to attend.
Because of limited space the following criteria will be followed:
- Notices must be 8 ½” by 11” or smaller.
- Only ONE flyer per group or agency at any given time.
- Materials are limited to activities or services in COCONINO COUNTY.
- Notices with event dates will remain posted one month or less.
- Notices without an event date will remain posted for one month or more, based on available space.
- Official City/Library materials take precedence.
Materials on display do not constitute endorsement by the City of Flagstaff.
THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS ARE PROHIBITED:
- Campaign literature
- Postings of lost animals, rooms or houses for rent or sale, services, items, or animals for sale.
These guidelines are based on the Arizona Library Association interpretation of the Library Bill of Rights, Intellectual Freedom Manual, American Library Association.
